Does BEYONCÉ matter?

The obvious answer is, yes, of course.

Throughout my whole adolescent life, I’ve always listened to Beyoncé. Yes, there have been a few moments where I’ve been caught red-handed singing my heart out to some of her most popular jams like “Listen” and “Love on Top“, but lets be honest, who hasn’t? Not only does she produce such inspirational songs and messages, but she is also an incredible role model for young men and women all over the world.

Still the question stands.. WHY does she matter?

Its been a long journey for Queen B to become the most powerful woman in the music industry, but yet, she’s managed to do it. No surprise there. Her career literally started at the bottom, with her first step into stardom when appearing on “Star Search” in 1993. This allowed her and the other members of Destiny’s Child to form one of the world’s most popular girl groups, creating songs and albums that have topped the Billboards Hottest 100 for many consecutive weeks. Destiny’s Child however was only the beginning for Bey. This launched her solo career which allowed her to be the first female artist to have her five first studio albums debut at number one.

She is the best selling music artist of all time, along side with her significant other Jay-Z, who have created multiple best selling singles within the music industry. She describes herself as a modern day feminist and has her own all-female band. This gives a strong message to all the young women out there that they can achieve so many things beyond their control. She is the most grammy nominated female artist, who also remembers to give back. She has given large donations to charities throughout her success. A notable donation is when she starred as Etta James in the 2008 film “Cadillac records” and donated her entire salary to charity. This shows the selflessness she shows the world and how much she cares for others.

Within a male dominated industry, Bey has a massive voice. And when I say massive, I mean MASSIVE. She has many supporters who are influenced by her actions, messages, songs, and anything she does. She has one of the largest followings on social media and with the touch of a button, she is able to notify millions of her followers of important issues she wants to share. She shares the notions of strength, confidence and independence through her lyrics, which influences so many people.

She stands up for what she believes in which is such an important message in this day and age, as people are always conforming to society and just agreeing with what everybody else is saying. An example is her performance of “I Was Here” at the United Nations for World Humanitarian Day. She shows women everywhere that passions, like music, can change the world.

Now I feel like I’m just rambling on and on about Queen B, but that’s because she is also one of my biggest inspirations. Sometimes I wonder if she is even human.

So my question is, how does Beyoncé influence YOU?
