What is transmedia? Well, it is hard to define what is and what is not, transmedia. According to Wikipedia (lol), it’s essentially the technique of telling a single story or story experience across multiple platforms and formats using current digital technologies. However, some argue that it is actually, how well a single story is able to be comprehended across the media.
One of the key successes in utilising transmedia is to know your audience. What do they want? What do they need? What do they want to see the most? These are questions to comprehend as they are the ones who is going to dictate your success. Knowing your demographic is also vital when it comes to knowing your audience because you want to meet their needs and expectations in whatever you are going to produce.
Take Spiderman for example.
Spider-man, spider-man does whatever a spider can. Well, it seems like he can do way more then that. This character is in so much transmedia it is ridiculous. Spider-man is one of the top three favourite and well known comic characters in the world. So him showing up in all this transmedia was bound to happen eventually. There have been three different live-action film portrayals of Spiderman in almost 2 decades. All succeeding and living up to everybody’s expectations. (Hopefully! We’re counting on you Tom Holland!!!!!!)
